Our crossing over to Tallinn was uneventful and the duty free shop was 'expensive' compared to our trip over to Russia. It was obvious that the Fin's onboard were taking advantage of the food and drink on offer starting their cheap weekend in Tallinn, it was a Friday sailing after all.<br />

After we disembarked we set about refilling our twin 22L gas tanks as we hadn't filled up for over a month at this point. The three LPG stations we had listed for Tallinn no longer existed and by pure chance while navigating some road works we saw a sign for 'GAAS' which turned out to be LPG. Disappointingly we only managed 32L meaning we still had 12L spare but at least it was one thing off our mind.<br />

We then set about finding somewhere to park.<b><span style="color: red;"> ** Please note and read the comments at the bottom of this post, more recent visitors suggest that this location is no longer safe for parking or overnight ** </span></b>It is evident that Tallinn has been earmarked as up and coming and Europe's land speculators (Euro Carparks amung others) have been busy buying strips of land and turning them into carparks meaning a great deal of choice. Around the ports you can park for as little as €1 a day but the area is just wasteland with a healthy traffic of people leaving to depart on ship it's not an ideal location for the van. We settled on an unmarked Car Park suitable for all vans just a stones throw from the Old Town and €6/day (GPS: 59.44208, 24.74280) and have been Wild Camping here for two days without issue, you might be able to find cheaper but to be honest we've not paid for parking in over a month so a few euro's to park in a capital seems small change.<br />

Prices are modest, although no doubt increased since the take up of the Euro. Once again Cruise Ships unload hundreds of passengers on the city by day so if you're looking to eat look to do so one an evening when most of them have gone back. There is a wide selection of reasonably priced food on offer, but quality varies greatly and we're not fond of having an usher a-la holiday resort hell pushing us in. In the end we settled for Kaerajaan offering 'Modern Estonian Cuisine' - great value and excellent food.<br />

I was worried when I saw the amount of Duty Free the Estonian's had loaded up, but I shouldn't have worried - 500ml bottle of Larger is 90c in a shop so bound to be a bit cheaper at a Supermarket and diesel is now down to £1.10 a litre.<br />

Tomorrow we have a mammoth launderette session lined up - I think nearly everything we own needs washing and we have a months worth of clothes packed up!</div>

We've spent the last two days in T-Shirts which makes a pleasant change and somehow the contents of Sophie's backpack has made its way into mine! Nobody here wears shorts though, so I've refrained - I'm not sure Scandinavia is ready for that yet...<br />

That said, we're more than happy to walk around on foot and enjoy the sights available for free and we've now walked to the edges of the tourist map in every direction.<br />

On our way there we passed an army recruitment day and the war ships were lined up on show along with military vehicles etc which was followed by a picnic in the park before we made our way to the TV Tower which was a reasonable £4.50 each to get to the top. After a frustrating ten minutes of trying to shoot my SLR through the mesh I remembered Sophie's camera in my rucksack and was soon snapping away, it's tiny lens peeping between the railings. The whole area was swamped with Russian tourists - in fact the vast majority of buses here are Russian registered. We explored the second park Ladugardsgardet where a Circus was setting up, no Lions but plenty of Camels and Zebra's on show.<br />

To be honest, the changing of the guard with its horses and extravagance is probably enough - the palace was nice, but if you've been to as many old stately homes as we have you become a bit numb to it. The treasury was 'OK' but I think 45 minutes for a guided tour must be padded out a but since we were round it twice in ten minutes - so maybe spend the £14 entrance for this somewhere else.<br />
<br />
Sodermalm, the most southern island, didn't really have a lot to offer us other than views back over to Gamla Stan and the imposing sight of a cruise ship docking (loaded with Russian tourists no doubt!).<br />

Tomorrow we'll be visiting the Ostermalm markets and relaxing in the park, maybe hire some bikes for the afternoon before heading off to replenish our tanks and make our way to Oslo with our expectations set high!<br />

Copenhagen was a pleasant city but possibly unfairly skewed by the amount of capital cities we've visited up to now. We visited when the central motorhome parking area (City Camp) was closed as we are out of season, so the only option for us was to Wild Camp - not to worry, we've not stayed on a site yet in just over two weeks of Denmark! Taking advice, we stayed just outside of Bondby Strand Station in the parking area for wetland area which provided us with a magnificent sunset, used previously by our friends Ryan and Mel (GPS 55.61605, 12.42269).<br />

The street food was particually interesting and very cheap comapred to some of the prices we've seen elsewhere in Denmark - unusual for a capital city.<br />

Well, in as far as little anyway. "Is that it?" the crowds of tourists said to each other as the tour guide tried to give them some hype, thankfully it wasn't far from our stop.<br />

We spent the rest of the day on foot, visiting the Kings Gardens and Rosenborg Castle and then into the main pedestrianised area of the town. We attempted to vist the Carlsberg Museam, an art gallery, but either it is un-airconditioned as it was broken as the tempreature inside was searing. Instead we visited the Carlsberg Brewery, we must have slipped in the back way (Up Vestre Kirkegards Alle and over teh Carlsberg Viaduct if you want to know) as we didn't see where you paid until we were on the way out! I agree with sentiments that outside (Gamle Carlsberg Vej and potentially the aforementioned street) both make excellent city centre wild camping spots with no parking restrictions and indeed a couple of vans were making use of the situation - long may it continue.<br />

If seeing magnificent buildings is your thing - go to Rome, Budapest or London. If you like Shops, Gardens and Cafe Culture then Copenhangen might be up your street and is certainly a good place to get acustomed to Capital Sightseeing if you are planning a European Trip, by the time you get to the proper ones you'll be well healed.<br />

 <b>Day 2:</b> Following our own advice we moved our van further into the centre and parked up outside the Carlsberg Brewery, free Wifi also, thanks guys! Day 2 is always a bit easier once you've got your bearings and we set about visiting some of the things that we had missed.<br />

As someone who was dragged round Eden Camp as kid, the format was easy to digest and free to get in to boot! </div>

We decided to spend our remaining currency on a delicious rye bread sandwich and a Danish Pastry before retring to the botanical gardens to watch Turtles swim freely in the lake and a Heron catch fish from the shore - not something we expected, but rewarding none the less.</div>

(In Denmark you can have whatever you want on a licence plate, but because of the 50mph speed limits they don't seem very popular.</div>

Would I recommend Copenhagen for a city break? Possibly not, but seen as we were passing through it was a worthwhile visit. Tomorrow we stock up and fill up before passing on to another expensive Scandinavian country. The question is, will we get the bridge toll for 40 or 80 euro in our 5.99M van? (cut off being 6m!)</div>
